There is no one correct answer. In fact, rewards cards are not always a good idea. If you don't use your card very often, the additional cost to get the rewards in the first place may be more than any reward you actually recoup. Reward cards often have annual fees that can range from a few dollars, up to $500 for certain American Express or "prestigious cards."
But once you determine that it's advantageous for you to get such a card, think about what rewards you would actually want to use. Is it frequent flier miles for traveling? Merchandise at your favorite store? Tickets to a concert or sporting event?
Again, you're paying real money for these rewards in one way or another, so be sure you take full advantage of everything they offer!
